What Method is the Backbone of Online Advertising?

Posted by Janet Giacoma On February - 17 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Pay-Per-Click or PPC is the backbone for all paid-for advertising options and helps target specific audiences. You can buy advertising space from Google, Yahoo, and Bing, as well as other sites such as Leapfish.  Usually you post 3 line ads, that are very specific to your service or product you offer – the more interesting and relevant, the more click throughs and conversions you will experience.  PPC requires regular monitoring, high quality campaigns, a decent budget, as well as attention grabbing landing pages and a way to track effectiveness.

Posted by Janet Giacoma On February - 2 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

This weeks ABC is O for Organic SEO ~ If expensive online campaigns are not your style, then you might like to check out Organic SEO which allows you to build a digital presence without breaking the bank.  Content driven, contextual promotion requires a bit of patience but has a long lasting impact on your online endeavour.  Organic SEO is a combination of high quality content, through articles, press releases, blogs, (commenting & posting), video marketing, Twitter…. I think you get the idea – it is when your name and/or brand over time “go viral”and show up naturally in the search engines.  Good keyword usage is critical.  This method takes longer than Google campaigns, but it is very effective over time.

Is Affiliate Marketing Really Dead?

Posted by Janet Giacoma On January - 19 - 20104 COMMENTS

I have been on a number of calls, webinars, teleseminars…. you name it, over the last month where the discussions loop back around to whether affiliate marketing is going to survive the “new way” Google is allowing adwords to be used within their system. There are many who think it’s going to be incredibly tough going, including Perry Marshall and Amit Mehta.

However, I just read a terrific rebuttal by Ben Moskel.  A couple of things he points out are:

  • Most affiliates that are being banned have been promoting biz-opps that have “Google” in the name of the product
  • The lawyers of Google have told the company to crack down or they will lose the foothold of protecting their brand
  • Google still sells adspace to affiliate marketers who are selling Read the rest of this entry »

Talk to Me About Leapfish

Posted by Janet Giacoma On August - 3 - 20092 COMMENTS

Have you heard of a relatively new company, Leapfish.com?  I hadn’t until I received a call from one of their sales people the other day.  They do what he termed as “search site aggregation”.  He showed me how they consolidate information from multiple sources such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, Amazon & Ebay, in addition to social sites such as YouTube and blogs.

It was powerful. Of course, he wanted to sell me “keywords” which I’d become the owner of on their search site.

My questions -

  • do you use them as a search site?
  • How are they advertising to get traffic?
  • Will there be a one month ROI or a 2 year?  – I know it will depend on the keyword(s)
  • Do any of you have experience (positive or negative) with them?

Please leave a comment, I’d love to hear from you about this!
